Behaviour Support

Evidence-based, compassionate support to understand behaviour, build skills and improve everyday life.

At SEN-THERAPY, our Behaviour Support approach combines Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) with the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA).

We understand behaviour as meaningful communication and use evidence-based strategies to identify underlying needs, build functional skills and support emotional regulation.

Our focus is not on compliance, but on helping children develop independence, confidence and quality of life.

Our approach

We use behavioural science thoughtfully and ethically-always placing the child’s wellbeing at the centre of every decision.

Understanding the Child

Understanding strengths, interests and motivations, recognising behaviour as communication.

Understanding Behaviour

Exploring why behaviours occur through structured assessment (functional assessment), identifying patterns and triggers.

Building Skills & Reducing Distress

Teaching functional skills in small, achievable steps while adapting environments to support success.

We focus on:

Strengths and Motivation

Learning is built around each child’s interests, intrinsic motivation and individual profile.

Understanding Behaviour

We explore why behaviours occur, identify patterns and environmental influences and respond in ways that support regulation and emotional safety

Functional Skill Development

We teach meaningful, real life skills in small achievable steps while adapting environments to reduce frustration and promote success.

Emotional Wellbeing and Autonomy

We do not use compliance-based teaching or one-size-fits-all programmes. Trust, dignity and autonomy underpin our work.

How we work

Our approach is grounded in behavioural science and follows a structured, individualised process:

• Functional Behaviour Assessment (FBA) to understand the reasons behind behaviour
• Individualised intervention plans based on each child’s profile
• Skill-building programmes focusing on communication, regulation and independence
• Ongoing data-informed review to ensure progress
• Collaboration with parents, schools and other professionals

Our team

Programmes are overseen by experienced clinicians, including Board Certified Behaviour Analysts (BCBAs), ensuring a high standard of evidence-based practice.
